The Holy Islands are the homeland of the elves and where most of them continue to live today. As a large, mountainous region, many walks of life have flourished in the pockets of river valleys and lakesides amongst the striking granite peaks and walls. Note that "Holy Islands" properly refers only to the geographic collection of the islands; a variety of political instutitions operate on the Islands and they cannot be described as a single nation/state.
